USCIS Form I9
Contrary to popular belief, the USCIS Form I-9 does NOT need to be notarized. In fact, it is illegal for a Notary to place their seal on the document. Most employers call upon and trust Notaries to perform this task because of our experience with verifying proper identification. We are Authorized Employer Agents.
All U.S. employers must properly complete Form I-9 for every individual they hire for employment in the United States. This includes citizens and noncitizens. Both employees and employers (or authorized representatives of the employer) must complete the form. Since the pandemic, many employers have shifted to remote or partially-remote workforces. Under most circumstances, in-person verification of authorizing documents is still required.
